Marco Villa is a Business Angel and a Co-Founder and partner of Italian Angels for Growth – IAG, where he served as Vice President & Managing Director for almost a decade. Marco supports the angel group with a strong commitment towards the organisation’s philosophy of being dedicated to promote entrepreneurship as an engine for economic growth and a mean to foster human development. Italian Angels for Growth is now the main angel group in Italy.
He is the Executive Director in charge of internationalization of Italia Startup, the umbrella organization for the Italian startup ecosystem.
Marco is also owner and Managing Director of Mirade Ventures Srl, a boutique venture firm specializing in equity investments in high-potential start-up businesses. Marco has invested in more than 15 companies in Italy and abroad across industries.
As a business angel, Marco is constantly involved in promoting early stage investing, coaching entrepreneurs and providing training to start-up companies. He is a certified FastTrac™ (Kauffman Foundation) and FourSight™ facilitator.
Marco is a frequent keynote speaker on leadership and innovation and has contributed to several events across the world. He is also a seasoned guest lecturer and is involved with, among others, Stanford University, Bocconi University (Milan), LUISS University (Rome), Fudan University (Shanghai), Yonsei (Seoul) and the Polytechnics of Milan and Turin.
Previously Marco has been Director and Head of Business Development at Villa & Bonaldi (www.villabonaldi.com), a production company in the oil & gas processing industry and Manager in the global office of PricewaterhouseCoopers (www.pwc.com), based in London, New York and Amsterdam. Before joining the private sector and has held various positions in two global nongovernmental organizations: the Society for International Development (www.sidint.org) and AIESEC (www.aiesec.org), where he has also been a recipient of the Global Alumni Contribution Award.
Marco holds a master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Catholic University of Milan, where he delivered the commencement speech in 2015.
An avid traveller that visited more than 80 countries, Marco lives between Italy and Singapore. Also a recovering DJ and an apprentice magician, he loves to bring the fun in all he does.
